The Patrol Division is the largest unit of the Watertown Police Department and consists of 3 Sergeants, 3 Corporals, and 18 Patrol Officers. Patrol officers are responsible for the most visible police service as officers who respond to emergencies such as crimes in progress, traffic accidents and medical emergencies. They also handle initial crime investigations, resolve disputes or disturbances and provide community services.
Watertown Police Officers work 40 hours per week. Three shifts throughout the day provide Watertown residents with 24-hour a day -365 day a year police service. The Patrol Division currently has eight marked patrol cars, one motorcycle, and five bicycles for use by the Patrol Officers. Each vehicle is identically equipped containing all of the necessary communication, MDT computers, traffic enforcement, emergency response, and officer safety equipment.
